Narasimha Reddy (Chiranjeevi) is the territorial administrative and military ruler of Uyyalawada. Following his guru Gosayi Venkanna's (Amitabh Bachchan) advice, he becomes a fierce warrior and leader.

The film is based on a real story, and like many other subjects that stem from historical period, the makers have taken creative liberties to make the narrative of this one more dramatic.

At two hours and 50 minutes, the film is a tad too long and needed a tighter edit. The dialogues of a subject with so much of depth definitely needed to add more weight.

The film dives into the story of Narasimha Reddy right from the first frame. Narasimha Reddy (Chiranjeevi) is a righteous man and also the ruler of Renadu in Uyyalawada.

Director Surender Reddy gets the basics of a period drama absolutely right and it is safe to say that he has taken a no-controversy path without hurting the sentiments of anyone, just as the disclaimer says so.

Chiranjeevi also confronts a Britisher and speaks a lengthy dialogue about taxes. One can’t help but recall the epic dialogue about tax in Sivaji Ganesan’s Veerapandiya Kattabomman.

The first and foremost thing that hits you with Sye Raa is the sheer scale of the film. Kudos to Ram Charan for putting a project in such a huge magnitude. The sheer size of the film, star cast, grand visuals, and terrific VFX take it a notch higher.

The second half is where all the action happens. The war scene and thrills showcased take the film to another level altogether. The climax is the biggest asset as it evokes good emotions and patriotism for the audience.

On the whole, Sye Raa is a superbly made patriotic drama that hits the right note with its emotions, performances, and narration. Chiranjeevi leads from the front and gives a stellar performance.

Majjari Narasimha Reddy (Chiranjeevi) from Uyyalawada is a Palegar, a feudal lord with territorial administrative and military powers in Rayalaseema region. He has control over several villages under his territory.

Megastar Chiranjeevi leads the script from beginning to the end with his stunning performance and with a charismatic presence. At his age, Chiranjeevi has put in his best effort to make us believe him as a warrior.

It is mentioned that he was at the forefront of the uprising in the Renadu region in 1840 and created an army of people. Narasimha Reddy was a forgotten hero. This film has captured all aspects of his life but in a cinematic way.

Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy (Chiranjeevi) is the palegar (ruler) for a small region in Rayalaseema in 1850’s. British’s East India Company is strengthening its presence and troubling the people with excessive tax system.

Chiranjeevi didn’t get many films to show his acting prowess after he became the megastar. Sye Raa gave him an excellent opportunity and he comes up with a splendid performance. You see less of megastar and more of an actor in this film.

Movie starts off on a weak note with love story and characters establishment. 30 minutes into the film, you will start getting involved as the conflict with the British gets going.

The film is based on the Palegar of Rayalaseema , Majjari Narasimha Reddy, who revolted against the atrocities of British Raj in 1847.

Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy has been executed on BIG scale , beginning with showcasing Britishers’ atrocities in the region. Narration is slow paced initially but that is adequate to build up the required emotion against the rulers.

Most of the action sequences by Greg Powell, Lee Whittaker, Ram-Laxman and A Vijay are far from realisitc, but from mass point of view may be a necessity.
