An ornithologist who commits suicide returns as fifth force to wreack vengeance on mankind for harming birds with mobile phone radiation. The only thing that is standing in his way is 2.0, the upgraded version of Chitti, the robot.

It is only with the entry of 2.0 (Rajini, again), which happens a little late than it should have, that the film gets some much-needed energy.

A Visual Grandeur !

Movie opening scene is on Akshay Kumar,First half is average , second half is good and last 30 minutes pure VFX burlesque !

Story wise not much to fume about, Shankar’s mark in effectiveness or Emotional connect has been limited to Pakshi Raja ( Akshay ) ‘ s flashback and that episode is the soul of the movie.

Titles VFX work , backgroud score are slick. VFX team has done some good work. Shankar plays to Rajini’s image as well. Though the songs are not impressive but the back ground score is world class.

Rajinikanth has done a superb job in his different variations and it gives us a lot if high to watch his antics on screen in 3D. Akshay Kumar has a very limited scope to perform but he nailed it when given a chance. Amy Jackson is good as humanoid Vennela.

Songs composed by A.R.Rahman are nice, though the movie does not have songs to disturb the flow.

The story of 2.0 revolves around mobiles and its networks which is killing birds which in turn has become a threat to humanity.

No need to mention that Rajnikanth is undoubtedly a superstar for a reason. His might be more than 60 but his energy is nothing less than a 30-year-old.

Shankar is undoubtedly one the most talented, creative and imaginative directors in South and he has proved it again with this film.

Shankar wasted no time and directly gets into the point from the first frame itself. The fun factor is missing when compared to the prequel.

Visual Effects Overshadow Emotions!

Roles played by Rajinikanth are more like an extension of what he has done in 'Robo'. Hats off to the Superstar for working so hard at the age of 65-plus! More than Vaseegaran, Rajini mesmerizes as Chitti in the two roles.

Technically, '2.O' is at least 10 times ahead of the first part. Visual Effects in the initial sequences doesn't look great.

2.0 ‘s major credit goes to the technical team unarguably. Background score by A.R. Rahman and young composers’ team Qutub E Kripa stands out of all departments.

Shankar and team delivered a Box-office winner in the form of ‘2.0’. First half is pretty average, second half is good AND last 30 minutes is VFX Extravaganza!

Rajinikanth as scientist is limited to a chair, as Chitti he is behind the Robo makeup. So, performance wise he offers nothing much in this film.  Amy is a humanoid and same story – no scope for performance.

The first and foremost thing that hits you right away is the sheer scale of the film. Apart from having a genuine social message, Shankar has imagined something really different and made a visual spectacle which everyone can be just proud of.

Rajinikanth like always surprises you with his enthusiasm. Here he plays different characters and does justice to each one of them.

On the whole, 2.0 is a visual extravaganza which makes you go wow in every which way. Be it the international level VFX, the action thrills between Rajini and Akshay, lavish sets and amazing action, this films is one hell of an experience for the viewers.

Giant size entertainment!

Shankar believed that the character Chitti has the super hero potential and he has worked a script around the idea.

Shankar always picks a cause that is relatable as the main theme. This time he discusses about the harm that we are doing to nature by using mobile phones.

However, the ending seems a bit hurried with not much resistance offered from the evil bird. 2.0 has its weaknesses, but the visual experience overpowers them.

 Chitti Bang

Superstar Rajinikanth in the role of Chitti the Robot provides ample entertainment in the final portions though his scientist role is very passive.

The film is shot with huge budget (Rs 600 Cr?) and all the graphical work is done by Hollywood companies.

Overall, “2.0” is one of its kind film that cannot be compared with any of the previous films made. It is unique and sets the bar high for upcoming Indian films with big ambitions.

Rajnikanth has three roles to play in this film and there is variation to each and every role. The 3rd role which is more like a cameo shows a glimpse of his mannerisms and dialogues.

Story of the film is about how radiation of cell phone towers is killing birds and in turn how they are causing ecological imbalance which in turn affects human beings.

The story of the film is different because villain is a good man, but creates mass destruction for a good cause.
