After announcing his entry into politics and party name, Ramarao (Balakrishna) decides to cover every nook and corner of Andhra Pradesh. Despite the Central Government's tactics Ramarao sweeps the elections and becomes the Chief Minister.

the veteran is terrific with the portrayal of Ramarao's character. Bollywood actress Vidya Balan gets a meaty role in this part and she sinks her teeth into it.

Krish did a decent job on a whole, but his work in the first part seemed more authentic compared to the second part. He did well in establishing the bond between NTR and his wife, but the key scenes that focus on the political drama aren't too convincing.

Simply put, Balakrishna shoulders the film with his one-man show. He delivers a fiery performance in his father NT Rama Rao’s role. Especially, Balayya’s power-packed acting in the confrontational scene with Indira Gandhi

Too much of drama happens at breakneck speed, and it gives a serious tone to the movie. The scenes between NTR and his wife Basavatarakam lack the required depth and it leads to a half-baked subplot.

On the whole, NTR Mahanayakudu showcases NTR, the legendary politician, to the current generation. Balakrishna’s splendid performance as NT Rama Rao and Krish’s deft handling of the political events that rattled Andhra Pradesh in the late 80s are the major highlights of this political drama.

Balakrishna has once again delivered a spectacular performance. His body language, his dialogue delivery, and even his looks will also make us remember the beloved leader NTR. Vidya Balan breathes life into the character of Basavatarakam.

The Production values by NBK Films, Vaaraahi Chalana Chitram, and Vibri Media are lavish. Music by Keeravani did not help in any manner for the movie. The background score hardly made any mark.

Director Krish has handled the story in an interesting way. Just like the first part, there are some boring scenes in this movie as well.

Mahanayakudu begins as NTR designs TDP logo and takes whirlwind tour of Andhra Pradesh. Then NTR’s Andhra wide tour in his Chaitanya Radham explaining all pro poor policies of NTR, which catapulted him to power are shown in good detail.

Second half is full of political drama showcasing how NTR regained power by fighting against Ram Lal and the mighty Indira.

While director closes out the movie with sad death of Basavatarakam, criticism that he didn’t cover the key episodes of NTR’s political life – thumping victory in 1994, ensuing August crisis, will continue.

There is a scene where NTR addresses a crowd in chaste Telugu, wearing a khakee, sitting informally on a rock.  At a distance in the same town, Indira Gandhi (Supriya Vinod) is heard addressing a crowd in Hindi, delivering platitudes.

Krish deals with NTR's 'Save Democracy' movement in a plain fashion.  The 'Delhi Chalo' hartal that saw NTR and Chandrababu Naidu outsmart the Congress' machinations comes quite underdeveloped.

As a political thriller, the film should have been far more imaginative and edge-of-the-seat.  With no topicality, 'NTR: Mahanayakudu' has its disadvantages.

Nandamuri Balakrishna has portrayed his father NT Rama Rao’s role perfectly. Unlike the first part, Balakrishna is completely seen in old avatar and there are no getups.

As we have already noted in the first part, the cinematography and production design gets good marks. Keeravani’s music is pretty plain. Editing is better in this part.

In the end, “Mayanayakudu” becomes both as CBN’s NTR as well as Basavatarakam’s NTR (since the movie begins with Basavatarakam and ends with her death) and glorifies him to the hilt.

'NTR Kathanayakudu' ends with the sequence of NTR announcing Telugu Desam Party. 'NTR Mahanayakudu' kickstarts from where Part 1 ended. It showcases how NTR has gone into the public and ended the decades long Congress-rule with record majority.

Balakrishna looked awkward as NTR in few sequences of 'NTR Kathanayakudu'. He, however, appeared more like his Father in the aged get-up. Balayya won't disappoint even performance-wise.

Certainly, 'NTR Mahanayakudu' have few good moments. Most of the First Half is about NTR's Political Entry, Poll Campaigning and Historic Victory. Lack of moments which offer goosebumps and nostalgic feeling is a drawback.
