Lucifer

Better to reign in hell than serve in heaven, wrote John Milton in Paradise Lost. The same quote is played in the end credits of actor-turned-filmmaker Prithviraj's directorial debut Lucifer.

Credit to Prithviraj for not playing to the gallery in the first half. The result of the restraint is that content and characters get their due. 

Mohanlal's Stephen though lacks the energy of some of his mass avatars, and instead is a dour-faced stoic figure - making it less memorable for some after walking out, of the theatres. 

Lucifer – Slow but okay

Mohan Lal leads from the front and carries the film on his shoulders. The way he portrays his loyal role and showcases superb emotions in the climax speaks volumes of Mohan Lal’s acting prowess. 

Though Prithvi Raj chose a good story, his narration is a bit slow. He showcased Mohan Lal in a superb manner and wins the hearts of his fans but for others, the narration looks jaded in many areas.

On the whole, Lucifer is a passable political drama which has some hiccups here and there. The theme of the film and performances are top notch but the narration and pace are a bit slow in places.

Mohan Lal brings his magical aura and intensity to the table to make the maximum out of yet another mass outing. It is a role that he can do by sleepwalking. Well, he doesn’t do that, and that is the reason why the actor is a legend.

The most vital aspect of this whole homage or fan service is that Prithviraj has the basic sense to use the star well and present him in a complete package with an engaging story fitting the star. Naturally, the political landscape looks fit. 

Overall, Lucifer is a well-made commercial masala fare that, in parts, operates similarly to Raghava Lawrence directed Don that came years ago.

స్టీఫెన్ గట్టుపల్లి అనే పాత్రలో మోహన్ లాల్ ఎప్పటిలాగే తన నటనతో ఈ సినిమాలో ఉత్తమమైన నటనను కనబర్చారు. 

పృధ్వీరాజ్ సుకుమారన్ మంచి స్టోరీ థీమ్ తీసుకున్నప్పటికీ.. టిపికల్ నేరేషన్ తో, పూర్తి ఆసక్తికరంగా సాగని పొలిటికల్ డ్రామాతో సినిమాను ఆకట్టుకునే విధంగా మలచలేకపోయారు.

మలయాళ సూపర్ స్టార్ మోహన్ లాల్ హీరోగా.. మలయాళ స్టార్ హీరో పృధ్వీరాజ్ సుకుమారన్ దర్శకత్వంలో వచ్చిన ఈ పొలిటికల్ థ్రిల్లర్ కొన్నిచోట్ల పర్వాలేదనిపించినా.. ఓవరాల్ గా సినిమా స్లోగా సాగుతూ నిరుత్సాహ పరుస్తోంది.
