Formulaic Action

Playing a cop’s role is considered to be success mantra for action stars. Bellamkonda has played this role in his regular style, nothing much difference from his movies. Kajal Aggarwal has not much to do in the film. Mehreen is okay. Neil Nithin Mukesh, his debut in Tollywood, has done good job.

The film is shot lavishly with rich production values and good action episodes. Thaman’s songs are of pedestrian quality. Cinematography by Chota K Naidi is slick.

“Kavachaam” is another regular, commercial action film from hero Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas that is full of clichéd sequences.

కవచం.. కంగాళీ థ్రిల్లర్

బెల్లంకొండ శ్రీనివాస్ పర్వాలేదు. పోలీస్ పాత్రకు తగ్గ ఫిజిక్ తో లుక్ పరంగా ఓకే అనిపించాడు. నటన విషయంలో ప్రత్యేకంగా చెప్పుకోవడానికేమీ లేదు. హీరోయిన్లిద్దరూ అందంగా కనిపించారు. గ్లామర్ షో చేశారు. ఇద్దరివీ కథలో కీలక పాత్రలే కానీ.. నటన పరంగా పెద్దగా స్కోప్ లేదు. విలన్ నీల్ నితిన్ ముకేశ్ స్క్రీన్ ప్రెజెన్స్ బాగుంది. హర్షవర్ధన్ రాణె ఓకే. 

నేపథ్య సంగీతం కూడా ఏమంత ప్రత్యేకంగా లేదు. ఛోటా కే నాయుడు ఛాయాగ్రహణంలో రిచ్ నెస్ కనిపిస్తుంది కానీ.. కొత్తదనం ఏమీ లేదు. నిర్మాణ విలువలకు ఢోకా లేదు. కథ విషయంలో కసరత్తు చేసిన విషయం కనిపిస్తుంది. కానీ స్క్రీన్ ప్లే ఆసక్తికరంగా రాసుకోలేదు. సినిమాకు అదే ప్రధాన లోపం. దర్శకుడిగా శ్రీనివాస్ ఒక ముద్రంటూ వేయలేకపోయాడు.

Mediocre Cop Drama

Bellamkonda Srinivas does well in his role of a cop. Kajal has a crucial role but does not get to emote much. Mehreen lands a key role and she is the one who brings the key changes in the film. Neil Nitin Mukesh is good as the main villain and takes over the film in the last half an hour or so.

As in every Bellamkonda film, production values of the film are top notch. Once again Chota K Naidu shows his experience as he gives the film a rich light. Thaman’s music is below par but the background score is decent enough. Fights composed look good on screen and will please the masses. Coming to the director Srinivas, he makes just an okay debut with Kavacham.

On the whole, Kavachm is a typical cop drama which works in parts. 

Kavacham is labelled a high voltage action thriller and is one indeed. The director though takes the 'voltage' side of this genre more seriously than the other aspects.

Mehreen thankfully doesn't get the 'cute girl with a sob story' role and there's some genuine substance. 

Kavacham should serve as an ideal reminder to Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas that he needs to go beyond blazers, uniforms and abroad shoots to make a good film.
