Guna 369

There’s a scene in the film where Guna picks up a Bhagavata Gita and one would imagine he would maybe read it to help him navigate out of the situation he’s in. But instead,

Had Arjun Jandhyala woven a tighter narrative minus the commercial distractions, the confused and numerous messages he’s trying to deliver might have had a chance to come through.

ప్రేమ కథల్లో మాస్ ఎలిమెంట్స్ మిక్స్ చేసి సినిమా తీయడం కొత్తేమి కాదు. కాకపోతే ఇందులో చాలా రిస్క్ ఉంటుంది. కథనం మీద ఏ మాత్రం పట్టు తప్పినా ఇటు లవ్ కోసం వచ్చిన యూత్ ని యాక్షన్ కోసం వచ్చిన మాస్ ని మెప్పించలేక రెంటికి చెడ్డ రేవడిలా పూర్తిగా చతికిలబడిపోతుంది.

రివెంజ్ డ్రామా ఏదైనా ప్రతిదానికి ఒక మీటర్ ఉంటుంది. అది కరెక్ట్ గా పాటించినప్పుడే ప్రేక్షకుడు హీరోతో పాటు ట్రావెల్ అవుతూ అతని బాధను ఫీలవుతూ విలన్ల మీద సమాంతరంగా కసి పెంచుకుని ప్రతీకారం కోసం ఎదురు చూస్తాడు.

కార్తికేయకు ఆరెక్స్ 100 తర్వాత దక్కిన మరోమంచి రోల్ గా దీన్ని చెప్పుకోవచ్చు. ఫస్ట్ హాఫ్ లో ఓ సగటు యువకుడిగా సెకండ్ హాఫ్ లో ప్రతీకారంతో రగిలిపోతూ ఆవేశం నింపుకున్న ప్రేమికుడిలా రెండు షేడ్స్ ని బాగానే క్యారీ చేశాడు

Just picture this.  The climax is gut-wrenching, the love story has pathos at its core, the hero's family faces unimaginable hardships, the hero is devastated and is cheated.

Aditya Menon exists as if he is there to be insulted and irritated.  Manju Bhargavi's character had so much potential but it's not fleshed out properly.  

Chaitan Bharadwaj's music doesn't add any value (the first song of the second half is an assault).  The BGM is too loud.  The cinematography (by Ram Reddy) is not smart.  

Karthikeya in his super energetic self like the previous outing, only here he is back to a setting that looks more comfortable for his antics. 

Arjun Jandyala making his debut with Guna 369 has taken a routine subject and straightforward narration. 

Despite a predictable story, the director manages to hold attention via small, but shocking twists in narrative from time to time.

 

As promoted, the film is based on true incidents and has twists which are unveiled at regular intervals.

The first half of the film offers nothing new and has predictable narration until the pre-interval. After an intriguing interval block, though all the twits are unveiled in a decent manner, the film’s pace drops and lacks energy in the scenes in the second half.

On the whole, Guna 369 is a message-oriented mass film which may find takers in single screens. The twists unveiled in the second half are totally unexpected and are executed decently. 

Guna (Karthikeya) is a regular middle-class lad who lives with his parents in a normal residential colony. His aim is to pass Engineering and fulfil his dad's dream. Guna is also kind-hearted and everyone in his colony is fond of him. 

Kartikeya Gummakonda is truly an asset for this film. The actor has not only delivered his career-best performance in the film but also will leave an impact on the audience with his character.

Director Arjun Jandhyala has prepared an average storyline and laced it with comedy and romantic scenes which will test the patience of the audience.

ఇప్పుడిప్పుడే ఎదుగుతున్న కార్తికేయ లాంటి హీరోలను వాళ్లకు లేని ఇమేజ్ ఛట్రంలోని నెట్టేసి దర్శకులు అతన్ని ఫార్ములాలోనే చూపించాలని అనుకోవడం ఆఖరికి నవ్వుల పాలయ్యే పరిస్థితి తెస్తుంది.
