As expected, it is a Rajini show all the way till the end. The star hero has been showcased in a superb manner by Murugudoss and reminds us of vintage Rajini. The superstar is extremely good as the bad cop as his style and mannerisms are too good for the fans.

fter a gripping first half, the tempo in the second half drops a bit as the film is rushed in the last fifteen minutes. After showcasing so much crime and investigation to nab Sunil Shetty, one expects a solid climax but that is not the case.

On the whole, Darbar is a serious cop drama which has some engaging moments going it’s way in the first half. But things get bogged down in the last twenty minutes making the film a bit dull.

AR Murugadoss movies are synonymous with action and he doesn't want his hero to be the cliched staying true to their spirit and profession kind of ethics. Be Kaithi Or Thuppakki, the lead actors love to play by their own rules to achieve their targets.

Darbar plot is the usual cop drama. Rajinikanth plays a top cop who is entrusted with the responsibility of putting an end to drug mafia in the city of Mumbai. The cop is ready but there the path is laden with thorns.

Well, the movie will be a feast for Thalaiva fans who are waiting to see him back in a tough cop avatar and Rajini delivers it to the T. He looks amazing in Khakee and a few dialogues even evoke whistles.

Let’s get it clear from the go, Darbar is a celebration of Rajinikanth the star, the phenomenon, the craze, definitely not the actor he has proven himself to be through the years.

Aaditya Arunachalam (Rajinikanth) is transferred to Mumbai from Delhi to put an end to the drug menace plaguing the city and clean up the police department’s reputation they lost 27 years ago thanks to psychotic gangster Hari Chopra (Sunil Shetty).

Rajinikanth and Nivetha Thomas let it rip in this one and Murugadoss makes the best use of it despite the predictable story that goes from light-hearted to heavy.

Aaditya Arunachalam (Rajinikanth) is a police officer with his own rules. He may seem a bad cop but he goes against the rules only to eliminate criminals, to make the society free of crime.

In the role of a police commissioner, Superstar Rajinikanth is a treat to watch. He has played to the gallery with his mannerisms. This is a one-man show. He has looked quite younger too. The styling is trendy.

Director Murugadoss used to make gripping commercial action movies like ‘Ghajini’ and ‘Thupaki’ which had connected to all sections of audiences and worked in all languages but his recent movies have been off the mark.

The story starts as Mumbai Commissioner Aaditya Arunasalam killing a lot of gangsters in encounters. The ruthless cop Aditya has been deployed to Mumbai to combat with Drug Lords, he goes on killing spree .

First half of the film has racy screenplay ,being a mad cop story the director has utilized the freedom to go all out. There is a wafer thin story , Darbar has built scene after another just to elevate Adithya Arunchalam.

Among the supporting roles, Yogi Babu is good with his comedic timing. Nivetha Thomas performance as Aaditya’s daughter is pretty impressive.

Aditya Arunachalam (Rajinikanth) who describes himself as a bad cop is after Mumbai drug and women trafficking mafia killing each and everybody in his sight.

Rajinikanth is the sole reason why this film is made and every scene in the film looks like as if Murugadoss believed that the sheer presence of Rajini will take care of it.

Anirudh's background score will give a high to Rajinikanth fans in a couple of action scenes. His soundtrack is very passable.
