అభిమన్యుడు.. అలరిస్తాడు.. ఆలోచన రేకెత్తిస్తాడు

ప్రథమార్ధంలో వేగం లేకపోవడం ‘అభిమన్యుడు’కు బలహీనత అయితే.. ద్వితీయార్ధానికి వేగం ఎక్కువైపోవడం ప్రతికూలంగా మారింది. తొలి అర్ధంలో కోత వేయదగ్గ సీన్లు చాలానే ఉన్నాయి. ముఖ్యంగా హీరో ఫ్యామిలీ ఎపిసోడ్ నిడివి మరీ ఎక్కువైపోయింది. ఇంటర్వెల్ దగ్గరే ‘అభిమన్యుడు’ సరైన ట్రాక్ లోకి వస్తాడు. ఇక అక్కడి నుంచి సినిమా ఎక్కడా ఆగదు. ద్వితీయార్ధంలో డీటైలింగ్ అవసరమైన చోట.. మరీ స్పీడుగా కథనాన్ని నడిపించేశారు. ఎడిటింగ్ గందరగోళంగా తయారైంది. రెండోసారి డైలాగ్ వింటే కానీ విషయం అర్థం కాని పరిస్థితి. ఇవన్నీ పక్కన పెడితే ఇందులోని కథాంశంతో మాత్రం మెజారిటీ ప్రేక్షకులు కనెక్టవుతారు.

What makes the film compelling is how it treats its antagonist. White Devil isn't even shown until the intermission point. We don't even see his face! But we sense his presence in most of his scenes and that creates a sense of dread. The film smartly doesn't give us a flashback justifying his motivation; he does his criminal activity just because he can, and he is unapologetic about it, which is refreshing.
