Good characters are seeking me - Akkineni Nagarjuna

Akkineni Nagarjuna is known for his ease of executing versatile scripts and his recent flick Raju Gari Gadhi 2. The film is all set to release on 13th of this month and Nagarjuna opened up about his script selection, Chai - Sam’s wedding and a lot more in the following interview….

How do you feel about Chai - Sam’s wedding?

October is turning out to be a really special month for me with Chai and Sam’s wedding. The event is happening on 6th October and the marriage ceremony will be carried out in both Hindu and Christian traditions. Chaitanya can sport both pant and dhoti (laughs). I told them that very few guests will be attending the event but the reception is going to be grand. We have less than 100 guests for the marriage and I suggested the ceremony be held at Arya samaj. When you get married in an Arya Samaj, meanings and subtexts of each mantra will be explained to the couple and me and Amala still remember our marriage at Arya Samaj.

Why was Raju Gari Gadhi 2 delayed so much? I

I thought I would watch the film on September 1st but was delayed a month till October 2nd. Due to heavy VFX works, the film was further delayed and I agreed to dub the film only after the VFX part is complete. Though the unit worked hard on sets, the VFX team had put the best output. Without quality VFX, the audience would feel the experience of a good thriller.

How is your character in the film?

I play a mentalist in the film and the film will appeal to the family audience as a whole. How is my character related to the spirit, should only be seen on screen. I loved the script and immediately agreed to do it. The story is a Telugu adaptation of a Malayalam flick and Vennela Kishore, Ashwin, Shakalaka Shankar’s comedy track will greatly entertain the audience.

How is Samantha’s character in the film?

Samatha’s character is really different and the discussion between me and Samantha in the last 20 minutes of the film is really crucial. Rao Ramesh has done a fine job as Samantha’s father

You’ve been selecting good characters often

Good characters are seeking me. Oopiri, Soggade Chinni Nayana and Raju Gari Gadi 2 all have well-written characters and I'm content as an actor. If everything goes as planned, I’ll be starring alongside Nani in another strong character

Tell us about Hello

Director Vikram had promised to finish the film by 15th October and we’ve already the announced the theatres December 22nd as the release date. I’ve been calling him each day to make sure of the progress and the output is really good. The film is a beautiful love story and we are glad to be introducing Kalyani Priyadarsin as the heroine.

Can we expect a film from Annapurna Film school?

Annapurna Film School’s script division is ready and the student themselves write scripts, form their own technical teams and get involved in the filmmaking process. We are dedicating certain funds to this department and the process will take off next year. To learn about all the latest technology, Amala is keen on joining films again and is currently working in a Bollywood flick

When can we expect Chandoo Mondeti’s film with you?

Chandoo is a big fan of mine and I’ll definitely be making a film with him. He narrated me a cop story and I really loved it. His latest film Savyasachi with Naga Chaitanya also has an interesting subject line
