The first thing that hits you with this film is Varun Tej’s makeover. His transformation from a soft guy to a hardcore criminal is superb in the film. Full credit should go to Harish Shankar for showcasing Varun in a superb manner.

On the biggest minus points of the film is the length which is a tad too long. Harish Shankar takes way too much time to establish each and every charactor which eats away a lot of runtime.

On the whole, Gaddalakonda Ganesh is a passsble mass drama which has a few good moments. Varun Tej leads from the front with his solid performance and rocking makeover. 

Mega Hero Varun Tej whose previous outing 'F2: Fun and Frustration' turned out to be a blockbuster at the box office joined hands with director Harish Shankar and is all set to come up with a gangster comedy drama titled as 'Valmiki'.

Varun Tej is truly an asset for this film. The actor has delivered his career best performance in the film as Gaddalakonda Ganesh in the movie. Be it his rugged look, dialogue delivery, intense performance and different body language, Varun Tej has made us believe that no one can never pull off the role with such ease and elegance.

Though this is a remake film, the director has succeeded in making the necessary changes and made the film really interesting.

Valmiki in Telugu is an interesting attempt to start with. A hero with class image has been roped in for a ultra mass character, and directed by a man who is not in form.

Varun Tej , who has class hero image till date , stuns audience in this massy gangster role. His menacing looks and performance get him much required mass base. He will make Mega mass fans proud one more time.

Valmiki is a raw, gripping tale of a rural gangster seen from the eyes of a maiden film director. Though the story appears a typical mass one , it has wider span and the unorthodox story telling makes it more interesting.

సినిమాకు కథే ముఖ్యం. ఇదే విషయం వాల్మీకితో మరోసారి రుజువైంది. అయితే ఈ కథ ఇక్కడ పుట్టింది కాదు. తమిళ నాట సూపర్‌ హిట్‌గా నిలిచిన జిగర్తాండ చిత్రానిది ఈ కథ. టైటిల్‌ క్రెడిట్స్‌లో కథా రచయిత కార్తీక్‌ సుబ్బరాజు వేయడంతోనే ఈ కథకు ఉన్న ప్రాముఖ్యత ఏంటో తెలుస్తోంది.

Abhi (Atharvaa Murali) is a short film maker who gets a chance to direct a feature. To set himself apart from the competitors, he decides his protagonist will not just have shades of grey, but will be a negative character completely. 

Gaddalakonda Ganesh is not a complicated film, but the emotions it deals with sure are. And while Atharvaa Murali breezes through his role that’s a mix of street-smart and cunning, one cannot help but wonder if his body language could’ve been a little funnier.

However, the only drawback the film has is that the comedy seems forced and same old in some scenes, even if Brahmaji nails his bit in a hilarious role. 

Ace director Harish Shankar’s “Valmiki” (the title has been changed to “Gaddhalakonda Ganesh” at the eleventh hour) starring Varun Tej has generated a lot of curiosity among the film buffs much since it went on to the sets.

The film out-and-out belongs to Varun Tej. As Gaddhalakonda Ganesh, he has given his career-best performance. He has transformed his looks and body language, and his acting is also an absolute delight. The dialogue delivery is sharp. He has put in a lot of effort. Atharvaa Murali as the aspiring filmmaker is impressive in his Telugu debut. 

The original Tamil movie had an interesting concept: a filmmaker attempting to make a movie with a real-life gangster and facing consequences when the gangster wants to act as the hero.
