Raj Tarun has played the role that he has done in several other movies, yet he has shown his mark in emotional sequences. Chitra has fitted well in the role but she looks a bit older than Raj Tarun due to her matured face.

Overall, "Rangula Raatnam" is regular romantic story made with high dose of sentiment. Those who like slow-paced movies with sentiment scenes may like it but for others, it is a disappointment.

రంగుల రాట్నం..

ఇంకొంచెం రంగులుండాల్సింది రాజ్ తరుణ్ సినిమాకు పెద్ద బలంగా నిలిచాడు. సహజంగా సాగే అతడి నటన ఆకట్టుకుంటుంది. సరదా సన్నివేశాలతో పాటు సీరియస్ ఎపిసోడ్లలో కూడా అతను ఆకట్టుకున్నాడు. తన ప్రపంచం తల్లకిందులైన సంద్భంలో అతడి నటన ప్రత్యేకంగా నిలుస్తుంది. హీరోయిన్ చిత్ర శుక్లా ఓకే అనిపిస్తుంది. అందం విషయంలో యావరేజ్. బాగానే నటించింది కానీ మరీ డల్లుగా కనిపిస్తుంది.

ఆరంభం నుంచి చాలా మామూలు సన్నవేశాలతో సాగుతుంది ‘రంగుల రాట్నం’. ప్రత్యేకంగా చెప్పుకునే.. సరదాగా అనిపించే సన్నివేశాలు చాలా తక్కువ. ప్రియదర్శి కొంతమేర ఎంటర్టైన్ చేస్తాడు కానీ.. అది కూడా ఒక స్థాయి వరకే. హీరో హీరోయిన్ల మధ్య రొమాంటిక్ ట్రాక్ కూడా అంతగా మెప్పించదు. ప్రథమార్ధంలో స్ట్రైకింగ్ అనిపించేది ఇంటర్వెల్ ముంగిట వచ్చే మలుపే. దీనికి ఇచ్చిన ప్రాధాన్యం చూస్తే ద్వితీయార్ధమంతా దీని ఆధారంగానే నడుస్తుందన్న భావన కలుగుతుంది. కానీ ఒక దశ దాటాక ఈ విషయాన్ని తెర మీద పాత్రలు.. చూస్తున్న మనం కూడా మరిచిపోతాం. ద్వితీయార్ధంలో కథను అలా డీల్ చేయాలనుకున్నపుడు అలాంటి షాక్ ఇవ్వాల్సిన అవసరమైతే లేదనిపిస్తుంది.

One of the basic plus points of the film is the mother sentiment. The scenes between Raj Tharun and his mother have been showcased well during the first half. Raj Tharun has matured a lot with his acting and does his role wholeheartedly. His performance during the emotional scenes is pretty good. The biggest drawback of the film is that it is painfully slow. Even after the first half is finished, the actual problem in the story is not disclosed. There is absolutely no chemistry between the lead pair which makes things disappointing most of the time.

Production values for the film are pretty good. The middle class set up has been showcased well through some very good camerawork. Dialogues are pretty decent and so was the music. Coming to the director Sri Ranjani, she has done just an okay job in her debut.

On the whole, Rangula Raatnam is a mediocre romantic drama which has some good moments here and there.

Colourless!

Raj Tarun's flawless performance and impressive final moments are the biggest assets of Rangula Ratnam. It may appeal to female audience and for those who like tear jerking dramas. On a whole, it is yet another unexciting film for this Pongal.
