Petta

Karthik Subbaraj, a self-confessed, die-hard fan, understands this. And that is why Petta works. The basic plot is a reinvention of the Superstar's biggest hit - Baashha. 

The film does have its issues, though, which are mostly narrative. For one, it is overlong. The plot takes a while to get going, and after a point, the college scenes become an overkill, mainly because most of the characters are secondary characters.

But, the film gives us the Thalaivar we all love - in loads. And Rajinikanth has fun playing the role, and shows us why he is the Superstar. 

Rajinikanth is undoubtedly one of the finest actors in the industry and he never fails to prove the same with his performance in each movie. 

Production Values are very high. It is evident that the producers haven’t got compromised in terms of quality of the film. The visuals by cinematographer Tirru are outstanding.

Peta starts off on a dull mode but it slowly picks up by the interval. Hardly, any story takes place in the first half but the premise looks solid by the end of the first half.

As the caption of the film goes, you will truly get Rajinified with the superstar’s performance and aura in the film.

One of the biggest drawbacks is that there is not much story in the film. Off late, all the Rajini films are having the same formulae of showing Rajini as the mature guy with a proper flashback which is getting repetitive now.

Fans of Rajini had a general complaint that they were missing the trademark Rajni and his fan moments as he was playing mostly mature roles. But director Karthik Subbaraj has showcased all those thrills in high spirits which will please the hardcore fans.

Rajanikanth is at his vintage best as Kaali. His energy, mannerisms and style will bring back the memories of vintage Rajani. 

Karthik Subbaraj's aim is pretty clear. He didn't want to make a content ridden film with Rajani, but deliver a film that appeals to Thalaiva fans. 

Directors are unable to make use of the demigod image of Rajanikanth lately. Rajanikanth's films are repeatedly failing at the box office as they couldn't enthrall fans and appeal to film lovers as well.

‘పేట’ ఆడియో వేడుకలో కార్తీక్ సుబ్బరాజ్ మాట్లాడుతూ.. సినిమా గురించి మూడు ముక్కల్లో చెప్పుకొచ్చాడు. ‘దిస్ ఫిలిం ఈజ్ ఇన్ స్పైర్డ్ బై.. పెర్ఫామ్డ్ బై.. అండ్ డెడికేటెడ్ టు రజనీకాంత్’ అని. 80లు.. 90ల్లో తన స్టయిల్ తో.. మేనరిజమ్స్ తో అభిమానుల్ని ఉర్రూతలూగించిన వింటేజ్ రజనీని మళ్లీ తెరపైకి తేవాలన్నది కార్తీక్ సుబ్బరాజ్ ఆలోచన కావచ్చు.

ప్రథమార్ధంలో నవాజుద్దీన్ సిద్దిఖి.. విజయ్ సేతుపతి నామమాత్రంగా కనిపిస్తారు. త్రిష అయితే అసలే కనిపించదు. వీళ్లను అలా దాచి పెట్టారంటే ద్వితీయార్దంలో ఏదో విశేషం ఉంటుందని.. ఫ్లాష్ బ్యాక్ ఓ రేంజిలో సాగుతుందని ఆశిస్తాం.
