Gopichand has not delivered anything different here, the confidence in his face has worked well for many scenes. Mehreen plays yet another routine regular heroine’s role.

The film has lavish production values. Richness is seen throughout. Prasad Murella’s camerawork is good. New director Chakravarthy has played it quite routine.

All in all, “Pantham” is another boring masala movie. It is a too regular Robin Hood story.

Macho star Gopichand’s ‘Pantham’ with the tagline ‘For a Cause’ is billed as a strong social drama laced with commercial elements.

Gopichand in his 25h film has been performed okay. In fight sequences, he worked hard. Mehreen has limited screentime as Gopichand’s girlfriend. Srinivas Reddy, Jaya Prakash, Prudhvi Raj ‘s comedy performance evokes some laughter. 

‘Pantham’ movie is a routine mass flick with an infused social message. This Robinhood template story has a racy screenplay, some comedy as its strengths. However, many scenes are cliched and songs are another weak point.

పంతం.. రొటీన్ మసాలానే

మాస్ సినిమాలతో మంచి స్థాయిని అందుకున్న హీరో గోపీచంద్. ఐతే గత కొన్నేళ్లుగా అతడి ట్రాక్ రికార్డు ఏమంత బాగా లేదు. వరుస ఫ్లాపులతో సతమతమవుతున్నాడు. ఇప్పుడతడి ఆశలన్నీ ‘పంతం’ మీదే నిలిచాయి. 

గోపీచంద్ బాగానే చేశాడు. నటన పరంగా కొత్తదనం చూపించడానికి ఈ సినిమా పెద్దగా అవకాశమివ్వలేదు.  హీరోయిన్ మెహ్రీన్ కౌర్ పాత్ర పూర్తిగా తేలిపోయింది. ఇలాంటి క్యారెక్టర్లు చేస్తుంటే ఆమె ఎంతో కాలం నిలబడలేదు.

 కమర్షియల్ సినిమాల్ని డీల్ చేయడంలో ప్రతిభ కనిపిస్తుంది కానీ.. ఈ ట్రెండుకు తగ్గట్లుగా కథాకథనాల్లో వైవిధ్యాన్ని అతను ప్రదర్శించలేకపోయాడు. దర్శకుడిగా అతడికి యావరేజ్ మార్కులు పడతాయి.

Pantham feels like it’s past its expiry date in Telugu cinema especially when the industry is ushering in a content-powered era.

The director masks the identity of his male protagonist in the first hour and Gopichand is addressed as andagadu, and manasunna vadu in the songs and dialogues.

Gopichand gets it all easy in Pantham and does a fine job with the action-comedy mix but he has to rise above the staple entertainment formula to resurrect his career.
