The film starts of by showcasing a research team who bring a dead man (Ravi Raja) alive. He is none other than Disco Raj who has a dreaded past featuring Sethu (Bobbu Simha). Upon knowing his flashback, Disco Raja starts hunting for Sethu.

Ravi Teja is the biggest highlight of the film as his performance in two different shades is pretty good. He especially nails it in the retro look as his mannerisms, dialogue modulation and body language are super stylish.

On the whole, Disco Raja is a scientific thriller laced with an action backdrop. Ravi Teja is superb in the retro look but the screenplay and narration are dull and slow. The film is neither bad or has terrific moments and unfolds at its own pace.

Mass Maharaja Teja has teamed up with Vi Anand this time around. Payal Rajput, Nabha Natesh, Bobby Simha starring ‘Disco Raja’ hit the screens today, promising to tell a sci-fi tale. The teasers hint at the film telling the story of a music-loving gangster who suffers from Post War Stress Disorder.

There is no doubt that the director VI Anand has shown what the audience is expecting from Ravi Teja.

But in its entirety, this is not a social fantasy film. The concept of surviving a dead person is new. Even though many have shown it in the past, it looks even intriguing.

Vi Anand tries to do a lot to mask the fact that Disco Raja, when stripped down to the bare minimum, is nothing but a good ol’ gangster drama.

Vasu (Ravi Teja) has a massive family made up of orphans who have found support in each other. Them and his girlfriend Nabha (Nabha Natesh) are asked to give up on hoping for his return, but they remain optimistic even in melodramatically trying times.

Disco Raja gets into the thick of things right off the bat, which is good. But the way Vi Anand meanders, taking his own sweet time unravelling each tale as if it’s the most important thing in the film, begins to get on your nerves after a while.

In Ladakh, a frozen dead body is found and it was brought to Relive, a science lab that is experimenting in bringing the dead alive. Their experiment succeeds and this body gets life again.

Ravi Teja has crossed 50 but he is still trying hard to present himself as a young star on the screen and choosing such roles but they are not giving desired results. Here, he has played two roles that are in their 30’s.

A science lab's experimentation of bringing the dead alive and the hero getting new life is an interesting concept.

Mass Maharaja, Ravi Teja, who starred in many commerical entertainers and scored big hits in the past, is taking a new path with Disco Raja, which is touted to be an intense sci-fi thriller.

Thanks to the technological advancements, humans are able to extend their lifespans. As if this wasn't enough, humans develop a technology which resurrects life even after death.

Disco Raja is one of those films that will keep both class and mass audiences entertained. It has the right dose of entertainment, energy, novelty, and technical brilliance. It is a proper sci-fi thriller with a brilliant theme and set-up.

There is this over-the-top character played by senior Naresh in this film.  He tries to be madcap and dishes out an eerie mannerism now and then.  He often changes his guises.

There is a female scientist and there is a comedian. If the latter is not comically smitten by her, what kind of a Tollywood-level sci-fi film is it?  He is smitten by her, you know.  In another instance of Tollywood-level 'gripping screenplay',

This is the kind of film that doesn't know the difference between being unconventional and looking too unserious in the process.  Had the comic doses been strong enough to make the audience forget the flaws in the narration, 'Disco Raja' might have saved itself.
