First of all , Sankalp Reddy – Director of Ghazi needs a Hi-Fi for attempting a genre never tried in Tollywood. After a gripping film as Ghazi, Sankalp takes on another path-breaking attempt in Antariskham.

Irrespective of the result, Varun keeps trying different genres. Aditya Rao Hydari gets a good role and impresses as an astronaut.

While movie certainly deserves accolades for the attempt, commercially it might find limited appeal.

Varun Tej did a nice job in the role of Dev. He is a perfect fit for the role and carried that melancholic look throughout the movie. Lavanya Tripati shines in her small yet pivotal role. Aditi Rao Hydari looks gorgeous and performed well in her role.

Songs composed by Prasanth Vihari are nice. He did good work in composing background score. Cinematography by Gnanasekar is superb.

Anthariksham is a film which has space travel which is affected by personal intentions and aspirations of the astronauts. This concept itself is a new one to the Telugu films and it is a rare movie in Indian cinema which doesn’t have enough space dramas.

Antariksham is definitely a daring attempt in Tollywood as this genre was not explored in the past, at least on this scale. This space thriller stays true to the theme and never goes off-track.

The main problem with Antariksham is that it lacks proper depth. Most of the scenes relating to technical problems in the space have not been addressed properly.

On the whole, the entire team of Antariksham has put in a lot of hard work and that is very much evident on the big screen.

The coordinates of an old satellite from India, Mihira, are lost with the potential for it to wreak havoc with communications worldwide.

After directing a film like Ghazi, expectations were high on Sankalp when it came to his space thriller Antariksham, maybe even unreasonably so.

Sankalp takes his own sweet time in the first half, bringing us up to date with the events that led up to Dev being brought back to the Indian Science Centre.

Plain Space Thriller

Varun Tej as an astronaut who has emotional issues has played the role convincingly. His performance in the emotional scenes is worth appreciating.

Aditi Rao Hydari as his colleague is okay. Avasarala as Mohan, Rehman as boss, and Lavanya as Varun's girlfriend are good.

Ramakrishna and Monika who had also worked for ‘Rangasthalam’ have provided production design for this film.

Varun Tej is absolutely dashing in the film. There is no doubt that Varun is showing improvement with each movie and he did it again with this film. He has went into the skin of the character and will greatly impress us with his honest performance.

Sankalp Reddy has again proved that he can keep the audience at the edge of their seat with his films with a gripping screenplay.

Varun Tej delivers a believable performance as a sincere and duty minded astronaut. His body language and styling is apt. Aditi Rao is good within her limitations.

Sankalp springs in a surprise yet again by pulling off something that was considered 'unimaginable' for a Telugu filmmaker.

Antariksham is a rare film that leaves the audience with mixed feelings. It is underwhelming as a film, but still seems satisfactory for being unique and standing out of the crowd.

The first half is packed with sublime and soul-stirring moments.  The love track between Dev and Riya (Lavanya Tripathi) is brief yet evocative.  Their conversations ('It feels like rocket kissing the sky', says Riya to her lover boy) are lovely.

Prashanth Vihari's background score is majestic, so also the songs 'Samayama' and 'Dheemaga'.  VS Gnana Sekhar's cinematography is top-notch.

'Antariksham' has a remarkable first half and a not-so-convincing second half.  The director tells a layered story, overall.
