Introduced as the son in law of veteran actor Krishnam Raju, Prabhas made his debut with Eeswar in 2002. The movie did ok at the box office but the Telugu industry was happy to have found a 6 foot half stallion with the star. With the film Varsham, in 2004, Directors and producers were lined up in front the gates for Prabhas to walk through. Though the film Chakram (Dir.Krishna Vamsi) wasn’t a weekend hit, the film brought out Prabha’s mettle for acting. With his film Chatrapati, directed by Rajamouli, Prabhas proved his ground in Telugu film industry.
Films like Billa and Ek Niranjan portrayed a multitude of angles in Prabha’s acting. He gained a good following among both class and mass audiences and with it, his market was sky rocketing. In 2010, Prabhas did a love/comedy entertainer Darling with director Karunakaran and became everyone’s darling across Telugu states. His next film with director Dasaradh, Mr.Perfect is still considered one of the best family entertainers of the new age Telugu cinema. The film won the first ever G.Nagi Reddy memorial award in 2011 as the best family film of the year. His film with the debut director Koratala Siva, Mirchi, won the fans over for it’s humanitarian approach and Prabhas’ iconic dialogue “veelaite premiddam dude…mahaa aite tirigi premistaru” (The least some can do to be loved back is first love someone)
Prabhas was announced as the male lead in Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali and the film opened up with huge numbers. While Baahubali 1 collected 512 crores worldwide and made Prabhas a trending tag across the world, Baahubali 2 released in across 9000 screens and collected 217 crores on its first day itself. Till date, Baahubali 2 stands as the highest Indian film with a collection of 1700 crores across all languages.
Prabhas is currently shooting for Sahoo, a high adrenaline action entertainer with director Sudheer with a budget of 100 crores. Prabhas, the box office Baahubali is celebrating his birthday today and Movie Pazes wishes many more happy returns of the day.
